    The text from the listing, which I quoted above, suggests the seller intended it to be an auction listing. I didn't contact the seller. I would have bought the lot at $50, but I wouldn't bid on it at auction.

    I was only able to find a "snippet view" but it appears that the description of the gadget matches the brand "Perfeccion Pipe" on the case. And the 1909 above from @sablebrush52 would also fit according to the publication date on the snippet.

    Squadron Leader is now a shag? From what I've read from the Gawith representative, they've been doing lots of consolidating in terms of ingredients and formats. I should think a shag cut would create a significantly different smoke for an English blend like that.

    I also, and provided links to evidence that it wasn't a Dunhill. I've done this quite often and more often than not, the seller doesn't change a thing. I appreciate the seller added a note in this case, albeit in "small print" toward the bottom.
