Ah, yes. Patience is the ultimate virtue with any new pipe, but especially an uncoated bowl. Half bowls are a must for maybe 10 times. A good Flake like HalOTheWynd is what I use. Not too hot a Flake. Do not try to light the dottle or you may burn the air hole.- dad-o-nine

Zamora, yes, I was skeptical as well. With two years or more of age it is worthy the premium price. I do prefer the Small Batch Carolina Red Flake from C&D but can only get limited amounts every two years.- dad-o-nine
