    "Stick Tobacco", Australia Duty

This is the form https://www.abf.gov.au/form-listing/forms/1537.pdf No word yet from Home Affairs. I submitted the form a few months ago. And I notice “rum” on yr sig line ? We’re up on the Tablelands on leave at the mo. Mt Uncle Distillery between Mareeba and Atherton has a scrumptious brown...

    Acquired 2 Meerschaums

Thanks for asking, Ray. I cleaned them up following your kind and wise advice. I smoked each of them. They don't take a filter, and I've decided to only acquire pipes with 9mm filters. So, since they didn't cost me anything, I swapped one with a friend for a French pipe, and I gave the other...

    Lovely New Zippo.

Ditto for Zippo. I've returned to pipes after a 30 year gap. In those halcyon, far off, days, I could smoke in the pub and at home, so 5cm Redhead matches were fine. Now, in Australia, you can't smoke within several kilometres of another human being (hyperbole, Americans, before you look for...

    Tobacco Taxes and Tariffs

Duty of $1,576.67 per kg. Inbound international travellers (not that there are many atm) may only bring in 25gr duty-free. A permit is needed to import more than that 25gr by online ordering. But the duty, and GST (like a 10% sales tax), will still be levied. Without the permit, Border Force...

***What Are You Smoking, June 2021?***

I am loving Richard Blend. There is enough Virginia in the VA#1 and Amsterdamer to produce distinctive new mown grass taste, enough Kentucky in the Amsterdamer - together with PA’s Burley - to add sweetness, and enough Latakia to give the whole a mild smokiness. Perhaps a tad more Latakia might...

    Your Own Secret Blend?!?!?

My wife makes what she calls “unique soup”, from whatever ingredients are left over from sauces or stocks or casseroles. Unique, because no two soups will be alike. This blend is like that. I will never be able to replicate it, because I’ll never be able to afford bulk tobaccos again at...

***What Are You Smoking, June 2021?***

This is more properly what am I yet to smoke. Against a background of 50gr of anything decent costing upwards of $125 in Australia, I have acquired a bargain stash from @sunriseboy which ought to last a while. From the first batch, I've tried and enjoyed Butternut Burley and Western Sunrise. A...

    Your Own Secret Blend?!?!?

It's not a secret, because I've just posted it on the blending thread. Yet to smoke it, because I only blended it half an hour ago. 100gr PA, 100gr Amsterdamer Fijne Snede, 65gr VA#1, 50gr SG Latakia Blending. That works out to a tad over 15% Latakia - a mild to moderate English?

    My First Serious Blend

(This is against the background of 50gr of anything decent costing at least $125 in Australia). I have acquired a stash from @sunriseboy which should last me a couple of years. Most of it is good stuff - I'll post separately about that - but it includes 100gr PA, 100gr Amsterdamer Fijne Snede &...

Prince Albert, much maligned but much appreciated by me, in a Dutch Amphora. From @sunriseboy ’s stash to mine, thanks mate.

New to the Forum. Not New to Pipe Smoking.

Welcome from tropical North Queensland, Australia! Thankyou for the pointers to Mac Baren's different blends.

    Acquired 2 Meerschaums

Thnx weezell. There is a Peterson Meer which has a similar bowl, but mine doesn't have a mount, and has a fishtail. Googling your suggestions has been an educational experience in itself :) My friend taught in Africa for a few years.

    Acquired 2 Meerschaums

A friend who stopped smoking 30 years ago, about the same time that I did, but who hasn't taken up pipes again very recently as I have, gave me his stash of old pipes, including these 2 Meerschaums. They were in a grotty state, but I followed @OzPiper's advice to give them a mild scrub with a...

    Show Off Your Petersons Here!

Looks like a 313 System Standard Rusticated. It has a P-Lip. Anything particular to know about cleaning these?

    Show Off Your Petersons Here!

Friend who stopped smoking 30 years ago, about the same time that I did, but unlike me he hasn't just taken up pipes again, gave me a stash of five of his old pipes. Among them, this Peterson. It might be a System, or might be a 6mm filter, the stem opening looks 6mm ish. Can someone identify...

    G'day from North Queensland

Smoking 70% Butternut Burley, 30% Peterson My Mixture 965 (my own blend, yeah, I know it’s sacrilegious) in my newly acquired and cleaned Amphora 1980s pipe with a 9mm filter. Heaven. I don’t usually do refills, might tonight.

    G'day from North Queensland

Finally, and this will be my first clean and smoke, a Dutch Amphora. I can't get a decent focus on the crest, but it's unmistakeable. It takes a 9mm filter. The stem has what looks like a sliding airflow adjustor?
