Is This Normal?
I don't know exactly what it is about them, but as a generality, I find the Sutliff crumble cakes to provide a little something "extra", more full, a better mouth-feel of some kind. I wish I knew exactly what it was so I could seek it better... There may be something like that going on for you...- FLDRD

Yes, and I swear that the (older?) versions that I have of the blends show some differences to my eye and palate. But according to the rep who pops up here from time to time, they have all become the same blend... Exactly when that occurred, and whether or not we may still be receiving shipments...- FLDRD

A) It was likely a flaw that needed covering B) I don't mind it personally, I think it was a secondary line. Price was probably reasonable. C) I often prefer a little texture under the fingers D) I don't expect it on higher grade / costlier pipes- FLDRD

82s About 4 years ago. One of my earlier pipe acquisitions in the overall scheme of things. I didn't even know it was a Peterson in the beginning - it was just another pipe in a shape I liked. I would prefer a P-lip but it got me on the path. My 2nd was likely a 314.- FLDRD
