Yes. The bottom portion of the tobacco can tend to get bunched up as you are tamping. It’s always an issue because stirring it up risks mixing in ash. Then you get a mouth full of soot. I often end up sucking and spitting out ash until it’s gone … like sucking venom from a snake bite ! Lol !! Or...- LudwigB88

Yes. Same here. I find that the usual culprit is not taking the time to dry tobacco and pull it apart so that it doesn’t clump up. Also, sometimes I do “fold and stuff” with flake tobacco and it gets packed too tight. Much better to rub out and let dry, then pack as usual. The two issues are...- LudwigB88

I was wondering if others have had this experience: you sit down to have a smoke and you pack your pipe as you ordinarily do, but maybe you’re slightly distracted or on the phone. I find website counter intuitive. I don’t see the ability to do a keyword search. And it doesn’t seem that sellers are rated. I can’t even figure out who the sellers are. On several entries I see what looks like Chinese characters. Does that mean seller is in Asia ??- LudwigB88

The ones I got at smokingpipes are fine. I just don’t like them with my large artisan pipes. For my small unfinished Savinellis they are fine ! I’m not big on clenching regularly anyway. Not good for jaw. I don’t detect any rubber taste.- LudwigB88
