Capstan Blue and McClintock Black Cherry purchase

Didn't realize both were Mac Baren blends.. In any case, the cherry is 2 years old and the CB is 18 months old. I expected the cherry to be wet or at least damp seeing as it's an aromatic, but it looks to be ready to smoke straight from the can. Both cans smell awesome.

    Tried the Spherical Pipe Screens

Not the flat ones for the "herb" pipes, but the half spherical ones for tobacco pipes. They completely and utterly changed the way my pipe smokes. The draw is much much more open to the point that my cadence and how hard I puff doesn't work with them. It's like starting over learning how to...

    Ordered some McClintock Cherry

Mainly because I loved the John Wayne movie of the same name. We shall see if it lives up to the name.

    There.. I did it.

I tried to smoke a bowl of Rivendale today and it turned into a soggy mess about 1/3 of the way through the bowl, so I did what someone here mentioned and microwaved about half of my remaining pouch for 30 seconds to overcome the PG. Steam was rolling off it. When it cooled and stopped steaming...

Any Big, Angled Lighters Out There?

I bought a zippo, but it's too small and fiddly in my hands. Got an inexpensive butane with tools on amazon but it's got a tiny reservoir and it just quits with no warning. Are there any hand torch size lighters out there with a big reservoir but a soft flame?

    The Friday Vauen

Not the Friday Savinelli, but the purchase was inspired from that. I'm liking these Vauens. Purdy pipes..

Does Smoking Change Taste of Food?

For those that can remember, did piping change how you tasted food? Cholula seems hotter than I remember and Frank's Red Hot seems more vinegary/sour than it used to be. Maybe I'm imagining things.

    Matches860

I've seen mention of this guy in a lot of places and have started watching his video archive. I like his style. His Halloween spooky stories are particularly good. Too bad he's passed on.

How long to smoke a bowl?

I'm curious, when you smoke a bowl, how long are you generally taking? My bowls generally last 20 minutes or so if everything goes smoothly. I never smoke all the way to the bottom and there is always a little that I waste at the end when it seems to get harsher.

Why do B&Ms Rebrand Bulk Tobacco?

Why is it that B&Ms rebrand bulk tobaccos? I went looking for some 1Q a few weeks ago and nothing they had in the jars was labeled that way. I asked and they said Oh yea, this is what you want. They called it "Holy Grail". Changing the name of the tobacco makes it harder to know what you're...

    Sipping your Tobacco?

I've consumed a lot of YT videos, many of which talk about smoking slowly and sipping on you pipe. Many of these same presenters seem to be trying to suck the bowl intact through the stem like a golf ball through a water hose. Is my idea of sipping and their idea of sipping that different? 🧐

    A Newbie Log

No real questions. I guess unless told otherwise, I will use this thread to kind of chronicle my experiences. Constructive comments are most welcome. Smoked a bowl of OGS this afternoon. Bowl #3 in my journey. I am still at that point that everything tastes like I am licking an ash...

    Greetings From Kentucky

Brand new to pipes, 2 bowls in. A bit of history. I've always loved the smell of pipe tobacco... "room note" is the term I have picked up recently and cavendish is what I always associated with pipe smells. My father apparently smoked a pipe before my arrival on the scene, I'm guessing he was...
