I was going to post up pictures of my ebay buys this week so everyone can either pat me on the back or laugh as my money disintegrates. Let me know what you guys think.

First buy is a pipe rack/humidor that holds six pipes. Comes with 6 pipes.

    1. Crown Duke~Dr. Grabow
    2. Medico Imported Briar
    3. Medico V.F.G Imported Briar
    4. NobHill Imported Briar
    5. R. Gasparini
    6. Willard Imported Briar

Sorry for the big pictures I couldn't get the thumbnail picture to work properly. Paid $35

Second is a Royal Coachman. I believe this is a Comoy seconds though I am not sure.Paid $19.

Third is a corn cob pipe I bought for the hell of it. Paid $1.50 shipped.

The pipe rack is well worth what you gave for everything in my opinion.

I've always been crazy but it's kept me from going insane.

eBay is too addictive to me I need a support group haha. I just purchased another humidor/pipe rack with three pipes. It was only $5 so I don't feel that bad though it is $14 with shipping. I will put up pictures in a few hours when I get home.

Here is a picture of the humidor and pipes. It comes with 3 pipes which the seller did not know the names of. That coupled with the fact that they are also hung on there wrong I am assuming the seller has no knowledge of pipes.

    I paid $4.50 ($14 shipped).

Thanks chuckw. Hopefully I can polish it up and it will look good as new. It is in transit and I will post my actual pictures when everything gets here.

Thanks Bubba, I will upload some better pics along with whatever I can find out about what type it is when it gets here. Though with a majority of these ebay sellers I have found they don't like to mail the packages very quickly.

Duncan, I totally agree with you. I was bidding on a Savinelli that was going for $7 (my max was set at $9) and at 4 seconds left someone bid $9.50 and beat me! It would have been $14 shipped. I was so angry haha but I let it go and found the Comoy for $19 shipped so I don't feel too bad.

PAD is the first stage, you want to get as many pipes as possible, but once you feel like you have "enough" the TAD will start setting in... You will try lots of different blends, some you will like, some you wont, those that you don't you decide to store it for later, so you put it in a mason jar... And that is when the Cellaring takes over!

Haha oh boy, this sure does seem like a fun hobby. I know that once all of my pipes come in I will look at them and say, "Damn that is alot of pipes, what was I thinking? I should have bought tobacco. Now I am too poor to afford tobacco but have alot of pipes. Time to sell my kidney." Or something like that.

Well the first package arrived. I am very disappointed in the quality of the pipes. There are dings and scratches all over and one has a crack on the inside. The humi/rack has crap in the bottom I will have to clean. I will try my best to restore these. I hope I can do it.

Wallbright, sounds like a good project to throw yourself at for a while. Besides, it'll take your mind off of your e-BAD. Further, you just might have a diamond in the rough among those pipes.

I suppose. Though you guys can tell me if they are even worth restoring. I can take pictures of the pipes individually and the bowls too if needed.

I should be getting another package tomorrow and will upload pictures.

As long as there is no structural damage to the pipe, it is worth restoring. Nice pick ups!

Well I received my Savinelli and one of my other ebay lots today in the mail.

The lot contained a Schoenleber, Bullseye, and one that just says "made in england". It also came with a humidor jar and a 4 pipe rack.

First off the Schoenleber stem wont go down all the way into the shank. I first thought that it was the wrong stem; however, I did research and concluded it is the right stem. I then thought that there could be a band missing or something but all of the pipes I was able to find online by them had no band. I suppose I will see after cleaning if it will fit and if not I will have to figure something out.

The next pipe is the Bullseye. It has a cracked shank and it has been repaired very well though. The bowl also seems very dirty and I will have my work cut out for me it seems.

The third and final pipe from the lot is one with no other markings on it other than "Made In London England". It is a sitter and a very large and sturdy pipe. However, the bowl seems to have small cracks in it at the bottom. (Should I still do the alcohol treatment and cotton balls on this one? Or just rub down with pipe cleaners and alcohol? I don't want to damage the briar anymore than it already is and I hope that I can build a cake since they are very small cracks.)

Here are some pictures of the humi/rack that came with the lot.

Last, I received my Savinelli Venezia 677KS in the mail today. It has a carbon lined bowl which the 626 did not have. I don't know why this is. There are also some fills in the briar but that is expected from a $48 pipe. Overall, I really like the way this pipe looks and feels.

I really like that savinelli you got (I might have to pick up one myself), and both those lots should clean up nicely!

How many pipes do you now own?

Heh, do I really have to answer that? 25 :/

I thought that I could clean up and sell the ones I didn't want. Now I am realizing that some aren't in shape to sell. I suppose I will sell one of my humi/racks with the reject pipes on ebay to make up some lost dough if I really feel the need. But for now I am keeping each one and working hard on restoring them. I am still very new to restoring.

I had a question though for you, when you use the cotton balls and put them in the bowl, how light or hard do you put them in? I tried one where I just barely put it down in and then another where I jammed it down and topped it off with another one. I am just wondering which you think is the best approach. Also, is it safe to do this with the one with the small cracks? Or will the alcohol soak into it and make it crack even more?

And you should pick up a Savinelli Venezia. They are fairly cheap and very good looking. If you can put up with the putty filled blemishes and cosmetic issues then you will enjoy this pipe alot. To me it is about how it smokes, not how it looks. For this reason I am excited to try my Dr. Grabow Grand Duke. I just restored it but I realized that it didn't need restoring since it only had the carbon lining and not a carbon cake and seems to have not been smoked before. I restored it anyways just to be sanitary though.

That humidor in the initial post looks really good. The US seems to produce the most and best humidors, which is a bit sad for me living in the UK. I have seen nice humidors for sale in the US, however, the shipping cost makes it prohibitive. Oh well, I just got to keep looking.
