I'm a newbie pipe smoker with a question:
I like the flavor of a good-quality, medium-strength cigar,
particularly the first couple of puffs. Is there a pipe
tobacco out there that comes close to that, or are they just
two different animals?

Welcome to the forum.....You only need to go out and buy a tin of Frog Morton....a pipe tobacco made of 90% cigar leaf, or at least it tastes like it.

Hmm. I see a lot different choices out there.
Any particular one?
Actually Frog Morton does not contain any cigar leaf.
There are quite a few cigar leaf blends available. I have smoked some, and although I like a few of them, I have never had a cigar leaf pipe blend that tasted the same as a cigar. Pipes/Pipe tobacco and cigars are two different animals.
Here are a few blends that contain cigar leaf:
Hearth & Home Stogie
Cornell & Diehl Billy Budd
G.L. Pease Robusto
McClelland Cigar Blends (Dominican Glory and Dominican Glory Maduro)
These are just a few blends, there are more out there.
Thanks. I'll try one.
I think Billy Bud and Robusto are my favorites of that bunch.
Then why does Frog Morton smell(well as the guy on Youtube describes it, that the tin note smells like, Stink & Shame, Burning Feet, 4 Day Old Underwear, Butt Crack) and taste just like a cigar??????? The video below is a funny parody which alot of people actually believed until he did part 2.
