Sunshine in Oregon today (at least in my part of it). PA in a Peterson started the day and it should move along very well with some 2015 in a Weber (next up).

Jonesing's Dark VaPer Trail.
Approximately 60% PS 701 + 25% Kendall Dark + 15% Perique.
Not bad. Needs something. Or maybe less of something. Part of me says it needs more Fire Cured and part of me says it needs more VA.
But actually very very tasty with a Monster Blue energy drink.
Mmmmmmmm...... Perique.
Jonesing, 15% sounds like a lot of Perique. Does the other leaf stand up to it?
Which Perique do you buy? (I favor McClelland's, but it's moist and not too assertive.)
P.A. in a GBD bulldog.
Yeah it stands up pretty well. And my guess at 15% is guess based on small batch blending with no real measuring except for big, medium and small "pinches" and "handfulls". But I'm pretty close on this.
And even though I really really like Perique...it's not overly dominant flavor wise. The KD is pretty bossy stuff and tends to be the centerpiece. High nic from the Periique but just about right. You could feel it but it stopped short unpleasant. Of course I do smoke perique in some cigarettes so I'm probably fairly nic tolerant.
Right now I'm using McCelland bulk from P&C. I dry it down and rub it out to small pieces.
I've been a half assed blender for awhile now but just getting into the pipe. So I'm learning what's different about this format. In this case I think I have the Perique too dry. Bowl burned just a tad hot and I think it was the Perique vs. the PS as I was first to suspect.
Anyway...it's fun and I did find this a pretty good smoke to my inexperienced pipe palate. Made up about 3-4 bowls worth and I'm already looking forward to the next ones. Typically a good sign.
Jonesing, I don't know if you noticed in Bob's interview with Russ Ouellette, but he got into blending not by concocting original creations, but by tweaking existing blends. Maybe you're onto something here. Keep at it!
Still on P.A. this evening.
PS701 burns hot as the gates of well you know . Mixture Modern in a Nording got a new Nording coming from Marty .
Hodge-Podge in an old edwards
On to PA in another edwards a " coachman"
H&H VA Spice in a very oldddd Comoy - On to Anicake later in ...ummm probably a bent Italian Meerschaum lined I got off from ebay. I was able to snag two pipes for under $15 that smoke beautifully.
Wow! Whoever got that order from 4 noggins - scored in a major way. I would recommend picking something mild and working yourself up to grand finale for the day. A full Latakia blend would be in order or a full perique. Enjoy Friend.
This morning I am smoking a legend. A gift from a fellow member: Very cool.
I am smoking Escudo Navy De Lux, and it's heavenly. A great Va/Per with a sweet and sour, fermented taste. It reminds me of my grandmothers homemade fig preserves. Thanks man.
Prince Albert in a MM Cob.
P.A. in a GBD 'dog, followed by H&H's Louisiana Red in a Stannie.
(Giving a few pipes the alcohol treatment using cotton balls instead of salt. Much less trouble; but I'll have to wait to see how well it works. Looks OK so far.)
Bella Vanilla from the CAO Flavours line. Not bad. Kind of a typical high quality Danish aro that needs to be smoked slowly.
What kind of alcohol?

Smokes for Saturday March 6, 2010
Four pipes in 10 hours, one ever 2.5 hours.
First: Smokers Friendly “Black Classic” (Black Cavendish) in my Dr. Burger. Nice little pipe and a very smooth smoke with no bite.
Second: McClelland Dominican Glory in a fresh NEW cob. OK smoke with very little cigar flavor, it did have somewhat of a bit, might have been the Virginia tobacco. It kind of reminded me of a RYO tobacco.
Third: Smokers Pride “Vanilla Cavendish” in a seasoned cob. This was a mild smoke which amazed me for being Vanilla. It seems that this flavor “bites”, but not this blend. It does lack body, tends to be bland for a “favored” blend.
Fourth: Altadis “Backwoods” pipe tobacco in NEW Cob, good blend, but does NOT taste anything like the Backwoods cigars.
Honey Smoke in my favorite Nording ... It's a full aromatic Cavendish blend with a coconut flavor. I buy it at http://www.milantobacco.com under their own bulk blends. I'm allowed to smoke in the house as long as it smells good and i'm told this one smells the best. I'll be moving on to the Savinelli Black Cavendish soon today and then later Cornell and Diehl's Strawberry Cavendish.
Last night was some G.L. Pease Fillmore and then some Super Value Black & Gold.

Half and Half, in my Ascorti.
Moved onto Macbarens dark twist roll cake in my Dr. Grabow omega.
how is it sapo59 what does it taste and smoke like ?
Yesterday evening was some H&H Sunjammer. Last night was some Altadis Creme Brulee.
Today the last couple bowls of my Dark VaPer Trail and some D&R AB Rimboche. Makes a damned fine smoke in a pipe and I'm using it to get a better feel for Latakia in a bowl. I smoked way too much of the AB in cigarettes one night and have had the latakis cringes ever since. Very very nice piping today.
This is one that Mark Ryan translated well. It's really a blend much more suited to the pipe than cigarettes. And given it was a relatively late entry into his stable I think he already knew which way the wind was blowing with myo SCHIP
Here's a description.
Rimboche AB Blend Pipe Cut Tobacco-3.5 OZ CanA tangy blend of the finest flue-cured Gold Leaf tobaccos, a unique dark-fired tobacco that has been processed by the Perique method, and a touch of Latakia for spice and passion.
Balance of Flue-Cured and Rare Perique Tobaccos.
Some of Phil's hodge-podge
Let's see that would be an aromatic/english BurVaOrLatPer?
Trying a new mix I put together, one pouch borkum riff whiskey, 1 pouch borkum riff ultra light, half pouch of borkum riff black Cavendish and a pouch of Sir walter raliegh (regular). Pretty nice so far, has a nice vanilla taste. It is burning smooth with no bite.
