I recently bought the Bent Washington corn cob pipe it smokes really good. It is all I have been smoking out of recently. I broke the stem on my other bent corn cob and gave away the other cob to a friend.

You can get new stems from MM for pennies... or you can do the Dr. Dave thing... Or just give me your address and I'll send you mine... I'm going with the "forever" stems...

If I get another COB I will probably order it off of aristocob.com supposedly MM gives them Pipes with bigger bowls.

I understand that cobs eventually wear out, and should just be replaced when they do, but I have been smoking mine off and on for about 25 years now. Still looking, good and smoking great!

In time everything wear's out... and then it either becomes trash or a TREASURE!

    I'm just an antique! :~)

When I ever do wear my "Cob Nose Warmer" out... it will be bronzed and displayed proudly, because it was the first!

I might even send it back to Dave for a signature at the point...

I don't think I have ever been speechless when I saw a pipe before!

I don't like the current freehand pipes at all.

I just bought some new pipes and posted them in my profile album. The link's at the bottom.

Just out of interest, does anyone else on here dabble in thier own creations re. racks, tables, cabinets etc? I did some and posted them.

Thanks Kevin and Phil. I have some spare timber, easy peasy. That photo reminds me, I need a new stem for that little Peterson (damn little hole) ...

What I especially like about that rack is the room provided for wide pipe bowls. Most racks space the pipes too closely.

Ha you'll laugh at this ... Pine, and it was already up in the attic! All you need is something like 18 inch long (then divide into pipe widths - however many etc.), and 4/5 inch depth (and another for the top part). I used something like a 25 flat bit, sawing through half the length for the stem rest, and a few off-cuts for the sides. I used a flat-bottomed router for the pits (by eye), and all screwed together with medium length wood screws...Is that understandable or have I just waffled like mad?

I guess that was the "QUICK" of it all... now if I was just a carpenter...

However, I make sure the carpet matches the drapes and I do tongue in groove... Oh, one last thing, I am a knocker inspector ;>)

Yes, that is my chief complaint on pipe racks too.

I've added a few since my orginal post including the Samhain X220B. Sorry Bob but my camera won't focus close enough to get a good picture of the band. I have a extender on order that will allow me to focus down to 2 inches.

I have finally purchased a couple or racks to put them in and got them out of the boxes I used on the road. The racks are 32 place closed hole racks from http://www.tonyspipesrack.com who I can highly recommend.

    http://s937.photobucket.com/albums/ad213/ermtony/1965%20Peterson%20Catalogue/

Three best smokers? Hmmm... Looking at my racks, its hard to choose. Picking even one over all the rest is like choosing a favorite child. Whether its my lowly $3.00 cob or my $600 Peterson's gold mounted Supreme, they all have something to recommend them.

I've always been crazy but it's kept me from going insane.

Chuck, that link is showing old Peterson Ads. No pipe pics. Is there a different link?

I really want to see the pics of the Samhain pipe.

That Samhain is really nice looking!

I like the beefiness of the lower stem and shank. And the grain is really nice as well.

Have you smoked it yet? If so, how does it smoke?

Yessir, altho it isn't broken in yet, it smokes well. It reminds me of a slightly smaller XL90 Pete. Capacity is about the same as a 307/9S System pipe.

My latest acquisitions off ebay, My instant fave is the Ben Wade Freehand #100, and there's a new Calabresi Canadian and a selection of new and used Ropps.

    Nice additions Jcosmoasp!

I fixed the photo in your first post and deleted the second post since it was the same photo.

When you are using Photobucket, just copy and paste the IMG link from Photobucket into your post. Do not use the img tab here in the forums.

    jcosmoasp,
That sandblasted freehand looks really cool. But is that a p-lip stem? I can't quite make it out in the photo. Were Ben Wade's ever made with a p-lip? I thought that was strictly a Peterson thing. BTW, if that's a Danish Ben Wade, then it's made by Preben Holm, and worth a bundle. The stem just doesn't seem right though. Can you post a picture of the stamping? Depending on your bid, you may have just hit a little jackpot.
