Hey Phil,
I wasn't trying to gross you out.
More than a few have turned up their noses at a peanut butter and onion sandwich.
So don't feel like the Lone Stranger.
However, they are popular in Vidalia GA. (probably its home)
I thought it sounded weird too, until I tried it.
Mmmmm good eatin'.
Pstlpkr, I was only joking, I have seen some weird tings, but that one... I'm not a big onion fan... I'll do them in moderation but big slices, no...
Now the Vidalia Onion, it's sweet... so that could change things... I might have to go to the chow hall tonight and make one... If I do, I'll give you my review...
Peanutbutter and Onion is GOOD! Onion with butter and roast garlic is Great! ( I was a cook for 30 years )
I know you were pulling my leg Phil.
The PB&O is definitely worth trying.
The Fried Balonga sandwich was a Marine Corps staple for Mid-Rats.
It'll give you vivid dreams.
Thanks Arthur,
I love roasted garlic.
I'll give it try, sounds great.
In the military, anything goes... Better not be to picky...
Two slices of wheat toast, sausage patty, scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, smothered in country gravy... Had that yesterday!
Pancake, sausage patty, two over medium easy eggs, pancake, smush it all together and drizzle with syrup… Umm Umm Good
When a friend described it to me, I thought Philadelphia cream cheese and chopped black olives on white bread was a bit strange.
Turns out it's pretty good!
(Just to keep this tobacco related, Wessex Burley Slices has a taste component that reminds me of black olives.)
Cortez, I would have to do the Cream Cheese and BO on a "crusty" bread or a bagel type bread... I bet it is a great spread!
It is!
3-4 slices of Pickle/Pimento Loaf on white bread with some Miracle Whip instead of Mayo.
or a homemade Pimento Cheese Sandwich.

I grew up in a big Portuguese and Irish neighborhood and one of my favorite sandwhiches became a Linguica and chips (french fries)on a hard Portuguese roll w/ yellow mustard.
Thick slices of sweet onion on home made bread smothered in butter
Ok, I know this stuff isn't available to everyone in the US, but if you're in the south and have access to Publix, you can get all of this. If not, substitute.
4 slices Boar's Head London Port Roast Beef
4 slices Boar's Head Tavern Ham
4 slices Boar's Head Buffalo Chicken
2 slices Boar's Head Provolone
Put meat together with cheese on top and nuke until cheese is melted. Toast a couple slices of English Muffin Bread and put your meat/cheese pile on there. Now comes the best part. Take a good amount of Publix Southern Style Potato Salad (as much as you can handle without making the sandwich explode) and put that right on the top slice of bread. Close sandwich, eat, love.
I think the Boar's Head deli stuff is available almost everywhere; but the important part, the potato salad needs a little description so I can find something similar.
Best way to describe it is a large cube cut potato salad, slightly sweet, typical onion celery combo, with chunks of hard boiled egg. That's about the best i can do. I will have to say that it's hands down the best non-homemade potato salad I've had.
At home:
Stealing part of phils answer "Take a nice FAT loaf of Italian bread, slice it so it’s about 1/2 inch slices, spread spicy mustard all over it add a slice of provolone cheese and alternating layers of Black Forest Prosciutto and Daniele Prosciutto"
When out:
Jimmy John's #16 Turkey and Bacon with mustard, mayo, lettuce, onion and provolone. Who would have ever though something so simple could taste so great.
wow, sure do have a large variety of sandwiches out there that we like. It's great to be living in today's world with such a tremendous amount of different foods to enjoy. We should all give at least a head nod to the Creator of all of this abundance and convience of today's world, everytime we get ready to chomp into one of these.
