    Lawrence,

I prefer the less formal Southern Y'all because All Y'all seems redundant. As in; "We're pleased to have y'all in the fraternity."

    Regards Y'all!

    Hello Everyone,

My name is Joe and I’ve been an occasional pipe smoker for the last 27 years. However, this year I started smoking a pipe on a daily basis and though it would be a good idea to join this site. I look forward to getting some advice from the experts, and maybe offering a little of my own thoughts as well.

Anyway, I just joined today and I’m looking forward to joining in the discussions.

    Welcome Jship!

You are correct when you say that there is a lot of practice involved with pipe smoking. With that being said; check out my column here on PipesMagazine.com for quite a few articles and videos that are targeted for helping out beginners.

My column: With Pipe and Pen

Here are a few that should be especially helpful to you:

Tobacco Pipe Packing Methods - Part 1

Tobacco Pipe Packing Methods - Part 2 (With Videos)

    Pipe Smoking Tips

There are a lot more articles and videos on the site. Spend some time perusing the site and reading. It should help you out a lot. Just don't get discouraged if it is not working out for you at first. It does take time, practice, and patience to learn how to properly enjoy pipe smoking. It is well worth the time and effort.

If you have any questions or need some help, just post in the forums and everyone here will try and help you out.

Welcome to the enjoyment of pipe smoking!

Bought my first pipe last night and smoking my first bowl today.

I've been smoking cigars for about ten years, but I think I'm going to enjoy pipe smoking even more.

I hail from South Carolina, but I don't particularly like the place so I try to roam around as much as possible.

    Greetings,

Just wanna say hello to all; first time on a forum of any sort...not that I'm reluctant to engage in the medium, just really busy with work, school, writing, and playing guitar. I like this site among the many out there as it seems more in line with sharing information and sound guidance, advocacy or mentor-ship, vice congratulating each other on a good find, or discussing who has the most of the more sought after blends.

I've been smoking pipes for about 12 years. I transitioned from moist snuff, cigarettes, and finally to pipes with an occasional cigar...sounds like the reduction plan highlighted by John Candy in "Uncle Buck".

I'm former military, retiring after 20 years, but still in the defense line, working as a field rep for an R and D company. I live in Florida, but travel quite a bit for work. It's a pleasure to be here.

    Thanks,

    Archer M. Darkpint

Finally decided to join up, I've been lurking around the boards for a few weeks now, and well liked what I had seen, so here I am making my intro.

I'm a relative newbie when it comes to pipes, as I just picked up a pipe from a local B&M a few years ago. But my fascination with the briar goes back a bit. Both of my grandfathers smoked pipes, as far as their favorite blends go, my dad's father was a Half and Half man, and my mom's father was a Middleton's Cherry man.

Now it's my turn to carry on the tradition...

Now that that's out of the way, most folks call me Scott, I'm your not so average 31 year old. I dabble a bit here and there hobby wise, I'm a NWS certified storm spotter, and I'm also an amateur radio operator.

Thanks for having a place like this for everyone to congregate, seems like I found the good pipe forum.
