    I looked at mine again and decided to smoke it today. In my case it appears the charred rim damaged the finish which then was easily removed when cleaning.

    Basically, finding the old bag where I kept my pipe stuff in the garage. I have a few hundred cigars in a humidor but I rarely smoke cigars anymore. And I think my pipe might help fill that desire to enjoy tobacco. I hated not being able to finish a whole cigar. But a pipe can be relit.
