    Greetings from Tony1958 in Atlanta

I've been smoking straight C&D Izmir lately and it's really a lovely tobacco. Also mixed 50/50 with FVF which is very tasty. I'd much rather smoke an VA-OR than a VA-PER.

    Greetings from Tony1958 in Atlanta

My understanding is that Oriental leaf does not need casing or any special treatment. I am planning on shredding it with my weed grinder, the same one I use for all my flake. If that doesn't work I will likely just roll leaves into a loose cigar shape and slice with a knife. The plan is to blend...

    Greetings from Tony1958 in Atlanta

Where you at, Tony? I live over in Decatur, not far from Puff n' Stuff, the most bitching tobacco shop in Atlanta. Must be something in the Atlanta air, I just today ordered 3/4 pound of various Oriental leaf from LeafOnly!

Good Way to Prepare GH flakes?

Following up on this if anyone is still paying attention. The grinder has become my preferred method for flakes. Straight out of the jar, no drying, cut flakes to 3/8" - 1/2" pieces, then grind. You can actually customize your grind a bit by only turning it once or twice, you will still feel...

    St. Simons Island, GA

Yes, Ye Olde Tobacco Shoppe, right on Bay Street at Factors Walk, just above River Street. They have another shop off Eisenhower closer to Oglethorpe Mall. I heard they closed out all their pipes and tobaccos but the website still shows house blends.

The Georgia coast can cool off very quickly in the evenings, what with the sea breeze. June is not particularly hot, either. July and August can be hot n' sticky but you'd be surprised how many evenings you can enjoy a good smoke outside. Pro Tip: try to find a place on the inland river marsh...

WTB: Peterson Army Mount 9mm Fishtail Stem (04/30/2024)

Hi all, I am looking for a Peterson army mount 9mm fishtail stem. Needs to be a bent so it will fit a 303, XL315, 313, etc. I have several 9mm p-Lip but am finding that I prefer fishtails so I wanted to see if anyone had an extra hanging around. These are all completely interchangeable so I...

    Ennerdale Flake

I wonder if it would last longer in 1/2oz mylar packets.

    Ennerdale Flake

Rum Flake is an easy Top 3 G&H blend. It is really something special.

    Ennerdale Flake

I hit some year-old Ennerdale again tonight and the topping has greatly diminished even though it's been in a mason jar. Still, an absolutely lovely VA flake, never aggressive. I do miss the extra creaminess from the topping.

Turns Out I Was Packing Too Loose

Super crispy or shag you can pack it pretty tight.

    Tobacco Discoveries

Coming from cigars, and about 15 months into pipe smoking, I can agree. When I started with pipes I wanted "a cigar in a pipe" and bought a bunch of cigar blends. As time has gone by, over 1000 bowls later, I'm no longer interested in that taste bomb smoke. Rather, I am really into the variety...

***What Are You Smoking, April 2024?***

I recently acquired my first Altinay, a big fat rusticated billiard... what a fantastic pipe. Those are both quite lovely.

***What Are You Smoking, April 2024?***

Two fabulous bowls of Germain's in the Peterson 05: Plum Cake, followed by Brown Flake. I kind of love any tobacco with the word "Brown" in it. Lots of Virginia with a little smidge o' burley hits just right.
