    Welcome from a fellow new member (but not new piper) also in the Bay state. I would concur with a prior comment that buying several Missouri Meerschaum cob pipes would be useful in allowing you to rest your pipe(s). Cobs are cheap and forgiving. Enjoy!

    I just came across your post. I just purchased a Xikar Resource and it was defective out of the box. I was struck by how cheap the build quality was. I also have Lotus, which was about half the price of the Xikar and has been trouble free and seems to have better build quality.
