    Vesz Pipes Grading?

I picked up a Julius Vesz "Hand Made" estate Prince today, nice pipe, smokes great. I know the "Hand Made" series were/are graded 2 to 4, this pipe is a 4 (in a circle), the question is what is higher grade, 2 or 4? Thanks in advance

    Help Identifying Pipe

Hey all, I picked up a box of estate pipes today and I'm hoping someone might help me Identify what brand this Meerschaum is. It has a "P" logo on it that almost looks like the Peterson's logo but I don't think it is. The only other markings are "Block Meerschaum". Thanks in advance.

Do you Keep Records/Details of the Pipes in your Collection?

For example, details you might have researched on your vintage pipes, or details on which pipes smoke best with which blends, etc... Up until now I've been mostly relying on memory, but as the collection grows and the well seasoned vintage brain shrinks it starts to get a bit cloudy. Looking...

    Thick vs Thin Chamber Wall

I'm no physics expert but I'm hoping someone here is. I know the general consensus is the thicker the wall the cooler the smoke, but somehow that doesn't make sense to me. I believe the thinking is that a thick wall will soaks up some of the heat, but doesn't a thicker wall just provide more...

    What's In A Name?

I generally don't feel the need to categorize things like music or in this case pipes, but curiosity has got the best of me, what shape would this Blatter Montreal be called? Great smoker, comfertable to clinch, all around great pipe...

Castello Vintage Carlo Scotti vs Newer Generation

Hey all, I just received my first estate Castello, the markings on it are: "Castello, 43, Aristocratica, Carlo Scotti, Made in Cantu Italy", also signed "Carlo Scotti". I haven't had a chance to date this pipe yet but I'm presuming it's older (any hints are appreciated), and I don't know much...

    Cellini vs Cellini Brebbia

I know Cellini was a pipe maker/shop in Chicago that made thousands of pipes, but then I see Cellini Brebbia, are they two compleatly different entities or is there a connection? Are the vintage Cellini from USA the better or more collectable pipes?

    Kaywoodie No Codes

Hey all, I have a cool little Kaywoodie I'm about to restore, but I'm having a hard time figuring out when it was made. Oddly the only markings on it are "Kaywoodie" on one side "G" on the other, white clover leaf on the side of the stem, no other markings. From the research I've done they...

How Long Does a Bowl Last You?

I've been smoking for a couple of months, I'm mostly just starting to enjoy it, I smoke mostly light English blends. To the question, how long a smoke do you get out of a bowl? I'm finding I rarely get more than 30 minutes, even with a larger bowl, I've read people say they sometimes get 2+...

    Barling's identification help

Hey all, I have a couple of Barling's I'm hoping someone here might help identify which era they might be from. For the sake of aiding in conversation 1) is a saddle stem and 2) a tapered stem. 1) the saddle stem, it is marked "Barling's", with the apostrophe s ('s), which is arched over the...
