What Cigar are You Smoking? 2023

Tonights Delight Tat Havana Cazador Reserva Love this size in the original brown band, but the broadleaf adds that extra sweetness and character.

Recommendation: Something Similar to Rattray's Marlin Flake?

I am looking for a recommendation from all you "experienced" and discerning smokers. I really liked the aged RMF I have, and will be grabbing some new tins, but something in the same vein would be appreciable. I would like to see what is out there that comes close to RMF from other blenders. A...

***What Are You Smoking, December 2023?***

Tonights Delight ‘08 Blackpoint. Mustran for the win. It is growing on me quickly; both tobacco and pipe. Bought some new tobacco to test out, since I haven’t bought anything new since ‘11. Gotta get that palate narrowed down on likes/dislikes. I can give a breakdown of almost all cigar leaves...

***What Are You Smoking, December 2023?***

Last nights Delight ‘08 Marlin Flake in the Marwyn. Trying to figure out what smokes best in this pipe. I ended up getting 3/4 of the bowl smoked, as opposed to around half with the Abingdon last night. The flavors were fantastic. Raisins and dark fruit to start, then calmed down to a smooth...

***What Are You Smoking, December 2023?***

Some ‘08 Pease Embarcadero in the LHS Marwyn. First bowl in a couple years, so let’s see how this all goes. This tin was already opened and put in a jar, so hopefully the little bit of drying out I did prior to lighting will help. Back in the game !

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2023

Tonights Delight Friends of Habanos blended with Alex Gonzalez. “La Puntilla” ‘16 Alex rolled a pile for the FOH board back in the day. I was lucky enough to catch a bundle when I visited him in Cuba. So much better than even 2 years ago; they were too strong.

    Canuck in the wild

Yes, but still ridiculous. You can still find tobacco's in the limited shops we do have, but the price has jumped up almost as much as cigars.

    Canuck in the wild

Hello fellow BOTL’s. I joined the board a few years ago, thinking I was going to get back into pipes, but didn’t. My bad. I am a seasoned vet to cigars. Been smoking since ‘09, about the time I slowed down with pipes. I am wanting to get back into the swing of it again, as I know I am missing...

    Real Bad at Lighting Cigars

I exclusively use multiple types of single-flame torch lighters. I find it is waaay too easy to scorch your wrappers with dual or triple flames. -Cigar in one hand, lighter in the other. -Hold the lighter away from the cigar and bring it closer until your end starts heating up and burning a bit...

I Want to Try Hand-rolled Cigars

“Best” is dependent on your palate. Just like pipe tobacco. You want Cuban or Non Cuban ? They have their benefits. If you want a fantastic Cuban, that won’t break the bank, usually the best place to start is: Short cigars- Partagas Short H Upmann Half Corona Ramon Allones Specially Selected...

    Cigar Storage

Cello is breathable. As much as it seems like a “plastic” or a membrane which doesn’t allow air or moisture in, it will. Not at a very high rate, but it will. If you have a couple in a jar, with a boveda, that will help keep any moisture from directly contacting the cigar. If the boveda isnt...

From Cigars to Pipes or Pipes to Cigars?

Started with pipes in the early/mid 2000’s and bought a pile of tobacco to try. Only smoked rarely at that point due to young family and knew enough that tobacco only gets better with age and proper storage. Started smoking cigars in 2009 and was hooked. I went hard in the paint with cigars...

    Spotted...In The Wild!

Saw a guy smoking a pipe on my Mexico trip 2 weeks ago, on the resort. I was having a small cigar, by myself on the side in the morning, so it was a “oh hey, I wasn’t expecting to see that” kind of feeling.
