    jguss, thanks for the information! It is nice to know the date range of my humidors! I have seen this patent number on a couple recent items on ebay, two beautiful Dunhill wooden tobacco jars. The seals were the same, only adapted to a round or square jar.Thank you once more!

    Here is the patent. It seems to be the same number for a few different shapes of the seal on different humidors I have seen on the Net.

    Donoj, Thanks so much for the response! I have a similar humidor only it is just for on top of a desk. Just a rectangular box. I have been able to find out more about the seal. It was patented in 1936, I believe. Mine is the same maroon color seal. I am pretty sure your seal is a kind of suede...
