A bit of tongue burn/bite normal?

I'm thinking it might be where my tongue is in my mouth in regards the the tip of the pipe? Possibly if I lay my tongue flat on the floor of my mouth... not sure. JR

A bit of tongue burn/bite normal?

Hi all, Is a little bit of tongue bite/burn normal after smoking your pipe a bit (2 bowls worth)? Or am I still going too fast? What is normal? Some tongue bite or no tongue bite? Thanks! JR

    What are Your Hobbies?

Title edited for caps and the fact that many do not consider pipe smoking a "hobby". Mine are two vastly different hobbies... (nerd alert!) - AM/FM DX'ing - the art of receiving distant radio signals that are very far away and not intended for your area - Exercise/Weight lifting

    What Was/Is Your Nickname?

High School - Beak (because of my mid-to-large nose) - it's even in the yearbook Every job I've ever had - "Loch" - short version for my last name (because in any given room, there are usually 2 people named John)

    Got my First Pipe Today!

Hi Clynch! Well I'll find out when I go back and let you know. The guy that helped me (Phil) has been a piper for 20 years and when I mentioned tongue bite (wanting to steer clear of it) he quickly steered me to the Rossi pipe and away from aromatics, as a "first choice". He wasn't pushy...

    Drying aromatics?

Hi all, I've heard it stated that drying aromatics out was (maybe?) a good idea? If so, how long would you dry them and in what way? Spread them on a paper towel for a few days? Sorry, I'm a newbie and all of this stuff might sounds pretty ghastly, but I'm learning from you all so thanks! JR

Pipe Smoking seems Cheaper than Cigars (?)

My mistake guys... I was just noting the differences in cost. I really like pipes now that I have tried them and will probably switch to mostly piping, with a cigar in there for good measure occasionally. ;) The fact that piping is cheaper is just a nice benefit, nothing more! Thanks...

Pipe Smoking seems Cheaper than Cigars (?)

Truly there is a difference! Both fill different "desires" maybe? Not sure on that one! I'll still have a cigar with my friends, that's for sure and probably come back to them somewhat now and again, but I am enjoying the "differences" between pipes and cigars! :) JR
