Questions on Clay and Meer Pipes...

I just got my pipes back from being cleaned (Thanks Lonestar), and started smoking my clay and meer. I know cake isn't wanted on a meer, is that also true for clay pipes? Also, what is the best way to clean the bowls after each use? I read that alcohol shouldnt be used... Thanks [Edited by...

    Quick Cleaning Question...

When I smoke I always end up getting a bit of buildup/blackening on the bowl rim. I was planning on lightly cleaning the rim with alcohol and then applying carnuba over the entire bowl. Is this the best solution or is there a better way? Thanks

Is it better to jar your Tobacco?

Since joining here, I've increased my collection of tobaccos. I currently keep all my bulk tobaccos in mason jars, and keep the smaller batchs in the tins they come in. Going through some boxes, I found a bunch of mason jars and was thinking about transfering the tinned blends into them...

Interesting pipe...can you help me out?

I recently received some ebay purchases, and in 1 bulk group I got an old carved pipe bowl. I'm not sure if it's clay or meerschaum. It's small, with very thin walls on the bowl, and has a masthead woman hanging from the front. It's beat up, but I plan on cleaning it and finding someone to...

I'm on a Custombilt binge: http://www.ebay.com/itm/250920412179?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 I have my eye on one more too!

    Custombilt pipes...

Been having a PAD attack, specifically on Custombilts. Was wondering if anyone on here knows how to date the pipes by their stamping. I've seen pipes marked Custombilt, Custom-bilt, as well as some signed Tracy Mincer. I was under the impression that the earlier pipes had the dash...can...

    Estate pipe on it's way...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/250914226631?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 I really like the look of custombilt pipes. I know the history of the brand, but have never had any actual experience with them. If any members on here have any personal input on these pipes, it would be...

    Stingers...What are they for?

Like the title says, what's the point of having one? Some type of filter? And how does one go about removing them?

    Arinbjorn, Found You a Meerschaum...

I remember you (arinbjorn) posting that you wanted an anatomically correct skull meer...well I've been bidding on this one, but it's slowly going out of my price range. In any case, it's a beautiful pipe and whoever ends up with it will be one lucky person! Here's the link...

    Moretti pipes...

Anyone own any pipes made by this manufacturer? I like the look of some of their pipes, and was wondering about the quality. Thanks

    Meerschaum question...

I've been shopping around, trying to find my first meerschaum, and had a quick question: Are you supposed to let cake build up in the bowl like a briar pipe? I ask this because I know the tobacco over time will stain the meerschaum. I was just wondering if a thick cake will clog up the pores in...

Anyone have any experience with these makers?

I've been looking into buying a few new pipes, and was wondering if anyone owns a Tom Leedy or Ron Fairchild pipe or has had any experience with them. Thanks

I was at a store that was closing down, and they were selling everything. There were some old, beat up tobacco tins, and i picked one up that I thought had nice graphics. It looks just like the tin this ebay seller has...

    Wally Frank pipe...

Was going through my old pipes, and found this odd pipe. It's carved as a bust of Beethoven. It is a very light colored wood, stamped Bruyere, France, and also has the Wally Frank stamp on it. Was wondering if anyone has any info on the maker, if the wood is briar, etc... I'll get pics up ASAP.

    Refurbishing old pipes...

I acquired my father in laws pipe collection a few years back, and did the minimum to get them back to smoking status (reamed / etc...). Some of the pipes have loose stems, most need a good cleaning as well to get them back in their prime. I've finally come to the point where I can put some...

Whenever I go on hikes, I tend to collect burls to whittle. I have a bunch of oak burls and was wondering, would they make a good pipe?

Looking for suggestions for a new blend...

I'm looking to mix things up with a new blend, but not sure where to start. I am a big Latakia fan, and cut my teeth on Frog Morton (still a staple). I'm looking for something new to try, Latakia being a plus. If you can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. thanks Matt
