Hi All,
I need some help to breath new life into this Meerschaum. I purchased it about 35 years ago in the Heidelberg PX. It has sat for at least 20 years in a cabinet, very dusty. How should I try and bring it into smoking order? Any assistance would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

Air compressor for dust. I rinsed my meer after treating for a ghost, inside and out, with cold tap water. Wipe with clean towel. It will discolor momentarily, but put it near a space heater over night and it will go back to its pre-rinse color. Whiskey or ever clear (in 3-5 drops) may freshen the air way if needed. So will warm water I bet. Sand paper 320+ in the chamber will bring down any cake if you wanna do that. Boom, ready to smoke.

Pucker your lips and blow real hard. Or put it next to a dryer vent. I just recommend blowing off instead of wiping off because meer scratches easily. Compressed air cans are sold at most big box stores in the US
I had a can about 10 years ago. Need to get a new one or lightly bruch it off as Rustie recommended.

Don't over think it, it's just dust. I would use a wet rag on the inside of the bowl and I would scrub the stem in water with a pipe cleaner. There are a whole lot of suggestions here if you look up cleaning estates, coffee grounds etc, I just smoke a slightly 'stale' bowl until it comes right, it does not take much.

Roll down your window while driving and stick the pipe out. Carefully! Don’t drop it or try breaking the land speed record, lol.

When you get where you’re going, load and smoke.

Done.

I used 400 grit in the chamber and removed cake, cleaned the stem with warm water and a bristle cleaner. Should I be do anything else?
