Exactly. Just like dirty silverware, I wash my pipes with soap and water.

I’ve only ever used a mild, scent free organic brand, but it works well to get those oils out, leaving the pipe as fresh as the day I bought it.

I run mine through the dishwasher - bottom shelf, heavy duty cycle

I don't do it often, but every now and then I use to run a couple of briars through a jewelry vibration cleaner. The one I have will hold two pipes easily. Using hot water and a few drops of Dawn Soap. It really does and amazing job. One or two cycles to clean and then one or two cycles, without soap to rinse.

I think the soap and water comment was sarcastic. Never use soap and water on a pipe. I clean mine with a generic Everclear or some other spirit.

Not at all. While I don't use soap or detergent often, I always rinse the chamber and airway with hot tap water. Clean, effecient and really refreshes the pipe as no other method.

I do this after the chamber soaks in 90% rubbing alcohol for a couple of hours. It dries quick, leaves no taste, it's cheap, no salt required-works every time. I don't use soap either.
