I bought this Kaywoodie "500" model 42 back in college when I was first starting out.

Recently, I took a look and noticed that the shank is cracked in two places.

In attempting to unscrew the insert from the shank to inspect further, I cracked a washer-shaped piece off of it. Oops!

I never found the "Drinkless" stinger to help much, and it prevented getting a pipe cleaner all the way through without taking it apart, so it was never one of my favorites. I guess what I'm asking is whether anyone else would find this worth fixing before I throw it away? ;)

someone who has a pipe that has had the stinger cut off may be interested as a donor to replace the stinger.
is it a 3 or 4 hole stinger as the threads are different

It would be worth fixing to me, but then I like things like that.
It is definitely fixable.

It just depends on how much this pipe means to you.
If it's one of your first pipes there may be many happy memories spent in its company.

And if it is worth the time and effort

You might treat this as an exercise in learning how to repair a damaged pipe.
The skill(s) acquired may come in handy another day should a more valuable pipe be damaged.
