Somewhat of an update here guys.

I was moving the cob around and the bottom of the bowl felt, soft. I peeled back a bit of the sticker and found to my surprise the bottom of the bowl has a hole in it.

I still think a cob is pretty solid. I can't imagine how this would happen during normal use, but if it did I think you could plug it with a piece of dowel and some pipe mud.
