Almost finished now... it just needs a layer of carnaubawax and a little bit of polish for the mouthpiece.

The first pipe I made has a Butz-Choquin mouthpiece.

But this 2nd pipe is all handmade. From one nice large block of Greek Briar wood and a piece of vulcanite that I got from a very friendly Dutch pipesmoker.

I had this tiny 'Charatan's make deLuxe 56' chimney pipe and wanted something similar but bigger. Hard to find so I started making one myself. Except for a drill and the buffing, no electronic tools were used. Really handmade...

At the bottom a Charatan cutty pipe without the nr., but I think it is a 56 aswell.
A nice old chopped bowl that needs a stem and the odd little chimney.

No, not yet. I did a little bit of work on the stem and gave the bowl a treatment with an oil-mixture inbetween that had to dry out first.
But will do soon now...

The bottom pipe with the bent stem is a Shape 56

Charatan can sometimes be a bit slipshod with their stampings
The top of my 2 cuttys (darker stain) has not been stamped with a Shape number either

It took a while but today is the great day... I will probably work on it some more in the coming years but have decided that it is ready to smoke it now.

Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture is my choice for this first smoke.



A large cup of 'Taiwan Oolong Finest' tea is the drink to make it all complete.
