As far as modern pipemakers, I like some of Rainer Barbi's more angular pipes. And Bruno Nuttens. And I really like Kai Nielsen's angled shank pipes. But as much as I appreciate modern pipemakers... I *love* old pipes. Specifically pre-war French pipes. I love the French "perçage courbe" or swan neck shanks.

I still don't have a Dunhill 120 shape, so that's on my list. And of course... a Dunhill LC - that's my holy grail of pipes. I know I'll never have one, but I can dream. Also, there are modern makers who reproduce the LC...but even they're expensive. Still, I'd love one.

I saw this pipe:


And haven't stopped thinking about it since. I'm really thinking about abstaining from pipe and tobacco purchases for a while in order to commission one. I've never spent that much on a pipe before and I've never bought an artisan pipe.
