1940s-50s CHARATAN’S MAKE DE LUXE ‘S’ DUBLIN - RARE

Stamping on shank; “CHARATAN’S MAKE” over “LONDON.ENGLAND” over “DE LUXE” over “S”. This beauty is from the Reuben Charatan Era, made in the late 1940's or very early 1950's. It shows a rare "DE LUXE S" stamping, and a crisp "CP" Charatan logo on the tapered mouthpiece in vulcanite. The "DE LUXE" grade is shown in a catalog, Charatan's, 1951. The bit is a twin-bore. Some minor rim char, which is solely cosmetic. The pipe is in fantastic condition.

Another one from the the Reuben Charatan Era. Stamping on shank; “CHARATAN’S MAKE” over “LONDON.ENGLAND” over “SPECIAL” to the left of “48”. The “CP” on the stem is light, with the “C” entering the “P”. The pipe is in fine shape overall and shows some very nice grain. And, it has a pristine stem.

1930s-40s BARLING’S MAKE 295 “BLACKMAN PETERBORO” BILLIARD

Stamping on the left side of the shank; “BARLING’S” (arched) over “MAKE” over “295”... right side of shank; “BLACKMAN PETERBORO”. I got some assistance from Sable on this one for an approximate make-date (thanks, Sable!). Through some additional research, I conclude that the pipe is affiliated with the tobacconist Will Blackman, who hailed from Peterborough Cambridgeshire, England, UK. Peterborough was commonly abbreviated “Peterboro” for a period of time. As can be seen, the pipe is in great shape overall.

Gave it a cleaning and took it out for a stroll. Despite the dual hole bite proof stem, the draw is surprisingly easy. Also, it's cool smoker. Great pipe!
