Hi everyone. I was just wondering you thoughts on Rattray’s pipes. I have now got four in my collection and have just managed to acquire the Brandy shaped Samhain shown in the photos. It’s apparently a limited run so felt quite lucky to get hold of one. The stems are made by Chris Kelly of Eldritch Pipes.
Recently I’ve really come to love the brand. I find many of the series they do really interesting and love the links to their Scottish heritage and British Folklorw. I only tend to smoke 9mm pipes, so Rattray’s offer a larger range than a lot of available companies. Also living in the UK they are competitively priced over here compared to other brands such as Savinelli and Vauen.
All four of mine and great little smokers and thoroughly enjoy them each and every time I smoke them. They are all becoming my go to pipes
I’d be really interested to hear your thoughts, opinions and experiences with Rattray’s pipes,

I have a Rattray's with an Eldritch stem as well, although mine's a meerschaum not a briar. Eldritch Pipes does some beautiful coloured stems, especially the 'candy' range. The way the colours swirl and mingle really is a sight to behold. I believe they are hand poured which is maybe what gives them their incredible colouring.

I’m yet to try/buy a meerschaum pipe, but that’s stunning. How do they smile compared with briar?
I keep meaning to save up for an Eldritch pipe as he has some amazing designs

I only own one meerschaum so I'm definitely no expert but from my limited experience I've found it smokes with a much more 'neutral' flavour, whereas all my briars add something to the smoke.
I don't prefer one over another it's just a different experience that's all.
The Rattray's Fudge range have Eldritch stems as well, I've been eyeing up one or two of them ?.

I have two: a bulldog (where I was a bit disappointed with the silver accent that does not sit flush with the shank) and a new Kyloe Natural 66s. Had some issues with a tight fit for the tenon but after some sandpaper works fine now. I smoke only 9mm filter pipes and always wanted a canadian type pipe. Now for the proportions to work and to still fit in the 9mm drilling they supersized the pipe :) The thing is huge, but I like it! Almost like smoking a churchwarden. 20200502_132117.jpg
