I saw this Dunhill Bulldog today on Smoking Pipes US, item # 004-002-34545, but I don't see a date code. Perhaps my bifocals aren't helping me that much today LOL!

Do you see a date code? Any other things missing on the imprinting that one might normally see? I'm not interested in buying another pipe right now but I like seeing prices below $200 on a Dunhill if I were. Maybe it has a replacement stem and I missed that, but I check a few times? Just curious.

Stamping anomalies are not common with Dunhill, but neither are they rare.

Dates especially, because (presumably) of the warranty thing.

Zero doubt that the stummel is "real".

The stem has a few tells that would mean it's a replacement, but given that the pipe was very probably made in the 1970's which was low-tide period for workmanship at Dunhill, AND the limitations of having only a few two-dimensional views of it (as opposed to examining it in hand), I cannot say for certain.

@georged - George, thanks for chiming in. It's always a pleasure to read your posts and watch you videos. BTW--I saw the video of the Hunter Kitty and the roll of toilet paper last night and it was great! LOL

Thanks again!
