A friend in Florida sells pipes on Ebay and every so often he send me a box of pipes that he can't sell, usually because they are damaged in some way. A few days ago his latest "care package" had a Linkmans Dr. G. Deluxe 9719 with a badly cracked bowl. I like to make tampers from old pipes that are not restorable or repairable and have made quite a few from all kinds of pipes. This is the first from a Linkmans. I saw after buffing that cap that I have more sanding to do! Maybe tomorrow...

That is so very cool! As a big fan of DG's I really like it. One of my prized pipes is a Linkman "33" and now I hope to get a bad one so I can steal your idea :nana:

Very nice work on that one.............. I like the thought you put into making it. I really like the pick idea.

Thanks Steve. I prefer to make them as I made the Linkmans with the pick in the "stem". But if the shank is short and the stem is long enough I attach the pick to the tip like the one below made from a Duncan Hill.
