Glad to hear it - that's a beautiful pipe in 'natural'.

If it's 'hard-to-find' and used, smoke it. Most of my pre-wwi Petes arrived in horrible condition. I restored them and there are no pipes I enjoy smoking more than the ones that were heading for the garbage, but over 100 years later are getting a second life.

Thanks. I have way too many pipes. As I was polishing these three I was thinking I'm at the point now where it's doubtful any future pipes I acquire will ever be smoked. :ROFLMAO: Kind of kidding - when I get a stem put on that 1896 Pete Patent, it is definitely going to get smoked.

Here are a few oddballs I have been working on today. Top is a 'Great Explorer' Scott that I have shown previously. Middle is a Noli Milano 68. I have never heard of these, they are not in Mark's book, and that is not a shape 68. The rim was a wreck, so I regretably had to sand the top and...

It's in Mark I's book, in the COM section - introduced in 2017.

When I want to smoke that shape, I go to one of my 9BC's. But that's mainly because I don't have a 2020 POTY :) Incredibly, someone was selling an unsmoked Natural for $300 a few years ago. More incredibly, I didn't buy it!

My first smoke was amazing - I had it shipped to my sister in Portland, and after picking it up, smoked some G&H Best Brown #2 on the drive back to Tacoma. It was a memorable smoke.

I am embarrassed to admit that I haven't smoked any of my Mark Twains - the 2022 POTY smokes so nicely, and is a system, so I don't see how the MTs could be better. The one arriving tomorrow is kind of ragged on the outside, so I'll see how it smokes.

Spectacular Doug Finlay XL Bamboo Belge

Here's my monster Finlay that is still unsmoked. What drew my attention to it, besides the overall beauty, was that 1930's-style stem. I'm a real sucker for those.

Great acquisition. Yeah, the official 'Mark Twain' stamped pipes are not systems - adding the reservoir and condensor for the 2022 POTY was what made it different enough to be worth making for the POTY. Just compared the mortise opening two my MT's - of course, none have a reservoir. The two...

Spectacular Doug Finlay XL Bamboo Belge

Just smoked a 2019 Doug Finlay pipe that I received the other day. Fabulous execution and smokes great too. It's amazing that he was making pipes of this quality after only two years.

Only Yanik Would Carve Something Like This

Great stuff. Amazingly creative designs, and he finishes his pipes, like the European carvers did. Wonder why the other Turkish carvers stop short, even on simple designs?

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

Here's the first 1930's silver ferrule 309 I've seen on ebay. It was a BIN and so someone bought it before I ever saw the listing: 1930's 309 with silver ferrule. This stummel is as close as I've seen to Rathbone's 309 stummel, although it's probably from the 1940's, maybe even the 1950's...

Here are six De Luxe Petersons with 'Hand Cut' stems and bone chimneys. Only one has a date hallmark (1971) and only one has an inlaid metal 'P'. Other side of the rack contains six pipes that might have been created by Paddy Larrigan: 1 - 'Hand Made' house pipe with aluminum 'P' and...
