Vegas Baby!!!
Here’s an oddity. A 606 Pot that was chopped and topped like eBay’s favorite seller worked it over.

The pipe has been smoked and kept in the case. The case is original based on the “soot” line.

The pipe has the Rosslare faux Amber Stem, I know because I’m an idiot and I broke it.

So this survivor has overcome its birth defect and my ham fisted handling.

There is not one mark of stamping. Not one.

This pipe was fitted with a case and then a flaw was found is my best guess.

I purchased the pipe from a seller in a Ireland.

Here’s the pictures. Feel free to speculate and let me know how comically stupid I am.

The bowl height actually looks right for a 606:

My best guess is it wasn't stamped for some reason (there are lots of possibilities), and later put in a "found in the wild" loose case that held it, but wasn't made for it.

What makes you think the stem is faux amber? It looks like real amber to me, at least the photos do. Hard to say without seeing it in real life.

I agree with @georged, I don't think the case and pipe started life together. The pipe "fits" in the case but it doesn't really fit well. The heel and the shank/bowl transition look like they don't really fit the case properly. I dont think its been topped either, the heel and bowl sides look they were cut to be a pot from day one, not a billiard. I would expect to see more taper up the bowl had it been a topped billiard.

Whatever the case may be, it's a lovely pipe.

When I say faux amber, I’m saying it’s not pure amber.

I own a shit ton of amber stemmed pipes, amber comes in a huge variety of “grades”.

I’ll take more pictures of the rim. It looks topped to me, maybe not chopped. Lol.

I’ll post more pictures in a bit.

I think the lack of stamping and the amber stem are ww2 shenanigans. Does anyone know when the “600” shapes were introduced? Also, when did Peterson start using that logo on the case?
