Never cared much for Lane era Charatan pipes myself as their size/shapes fall outside my preferred range. Always heard the Pre-Lane Reuben era pipes were more traditional in shape and typically ran on the smaller side. Don't see those nearly as often but I think one has piqued my interest!
That (rather circuitously) brings me to my point of interest - the Charatan twin-bore stem. The 1951 catalog features it as an available option, listed as their "Solid Bite Mouthpiece".
Does anyone have access to a pre-1950 catalog? I'm curious about when they introduced that style stem.
Also, if you have a Charatan with the Solid Bite mouthpiece, post up a pic!
