After months of waiting, I finally got it. A classic straight billiard meer, and my commissioned tamper, from Mustafa at Astas Meerschaum.

First the pipe.

Drilling is as perfect as it gets.

Pictured above is the bowl, through the stem hole.

And now the "piece de resistance" whatever that means. I just know people say that.

Based off my favorite old man tamper, I had this tamper commissioned. This ended up being much more detailed than I expected. I am beyond thrilled.

And this of course is the one it's copied off.

I had him copy the original as far as shape. He was afraid the bottom would be too thin, and fragile. But I wanted something I could use for a pick as well.

The pipe will have to wait till my Altinay year is over, but the tamper will be used tonight!

hate to tell you that guy isn't that old looking. Kind looks like a 26 year old with a beard. Sorry.

Both my parents died at the age of 57, 3 years apart. I'm 33, so technically I'm past half way to dead. I'd say that 26 is OLD. If I make it to 58, I'm going to party hard.

Edit: But if it makes you feel better, I'll refer to it as my "26 year old man with a beard" tamper. ;)

Are you referring to me?!! 🤩
If you want but don't forget to share your cellar if we ever meet up in the wild.

Doesn't have to be like that. Might but doesn't have to be. You might have gotten the good genes and skipped the not as great ones (speaking for longevity, I am sure they were alright.)

Neither of them smoked a pipe. However my grandfather who smoked a pipe many years ago, just turned 100 this year. So I got that going for me!
