My wife found a Barontini unfiltered De Luxe pipe at a souvenir shop for $18. I don’t know anything about them. Is this a good pipe?

Yes ! Hand made in Lovorno (Tuscany) Italy where they have a pipe store and website ... now by Cesare and daughters Barbara and Sylvia I believe. If you run the name Barontini in the Search bar several threads will come up. A Member here restores and collects them. I have three and they are favorites.

They also make pipes for Stanwell, Vauen, some Sherlock Holmes Petersons (rumor), and others.

Aldo Velani was a subbrand made by Barontini.

Many pipe carvers train under Barontini. The carver behind Ser Jacopo was one - he mentioned it in an interview. I have one Barontini ($120) that is remarkably similar (pre-dates) to Ser Jacopo Delecta ($500ish).
