I have recently tried Kramer’s Father Dempsey and am puzzled by something. It sometimes has a pure tobacco taste, in the vein of MM965, and at other times, there is a definite sense of some added topping that I can’t place. Would any of the “super-tasters” here care to weigh in on what they think it might be?

No topping or casing on that one. The tobaccos used in the blend seem to meld rather well to give a smooth, cool smoke with no lack of complexity. I usually prefer more stout Lat blends, however It's one of the few milder English I like. IMHO, Fr. D also seems to perform a little differently in various bowls. Good stuff!
