I've got a Rattarys-made shop pipe. It's a 9 mm filtered. The tenon which holds the filter has come loose from the stem. When stem and shank are separated the tenon should stay in the stem but now it stays in the shank, which is a pain because you insert the filters from the other end.
It's not a particularly treasured pipe but I've found it smokes a Petersons blend I've got into particularly well so I'd like to fix it.

What can I use to bond the tenon back into the stem where it belongs, that won't be toxic, taint the pipe and will cope with the heat?

The tenon is plastic and appears to have been simply a friction fit as there's no trace of adhesive on the stem end.

I thought of using Araldite but it stinks when you mix it and once applied it'll be permanent. I don't want to be smoking epoxy resin with every puff of Peterson's Irish cask..

Heck, probably some kids school glue would hold it. Or clear nail polish...

As for epoxy it loses its toxicity when it gasses out and dries.

Whatever you use apply very very little.
