That was from a run of pipes made for the Liverpool Pipe Club's 10th anniversary celebration held on August 5th, 1911. Forty were made, and they were distributed by Simon Lewis the proprietor of the One Legged Duck where the meeting was held. Famed pipe repair specialist, Sir George Dibos was also on hand.
Burton Smith won the impromptu slow smoking contest that transpired, with a time of fifty minutes, four seconds. Henry walker came in second, and Paul Harris was third. (no times listed for them)
John Reed's wife showed up a little after nine and caught William Payne with another woman, and led him from the pub by his ear after addressing Ellen (no last name found in the record) concerning what would happen if she ever caught her touching William again.
7.8 ounces of English blends were smoked that night, and just under four ounces of a straight Virginia.
Just after eleven, there was a small commotion when somone twisted his ankle as he stepped through the door to enter the pub, and Arthur Chapman thought a fight had started and had to be restrained by his friends.
That's all I can find at first look---my apologies for such a cursory glance at the history of the LPC brand---but I promised my wife I'd join her for dinner shortly, so will have to resume my research tomorrow and should have more information then.
