A few years ago we found this pipe on the beach of the North Sea. Unfortunately I can't make any good photos of the inscription “kaiserl. Marine" and "Imperator", but I'll try again. Can you please help me date this pipe? Is it a Peterson?
Yes, that makes sense. The location where we found it also fits. Why do you think the hallmarks are faux?Well if I had to take a wild stab, I’d say they were made to be sold in the onboard tobacco shop of the Imperator class ocean liners operated by the Hamburg American line in the first quarter of the 20th century.
The “hallmarks” on the band are faux and EP stands for Electro Plate.
And no it is not a Peterson.
First of all, the "EP" stands for electroplate. Therefore, not a sterling band so it wouldn't have to be hallmarked in the first place. I'll let someone else take it from there.Yes, that makes sense. The location where we found it also fits. Why do you think the hallmarks are faux?
Those EP bands were quite common, they are always marked with faux hallmarks. Only solid silver bands would have actual hallmarks.Yes, that makes sense. The location where we found it also fits. Why do you think the hallmarks are faux?
