Welcome from SE Louisiana from a native Texan born in Port Arthur.
Go back to Lone Star Tobacco and ask them to show you how to pack your pipe.
Also check to see if they have any inexpensive pipes.
The on-line pipe shops have a number of inexpensive pipes under $50 that you can order.
At the very least search for Missouri Meerschaum on buy some of their corncob pipes.
Mannnnnn when I asked where do I start because I'm totally inexperienced the old dude told me to watch YouTube. I don't think he's going to be super helpful beyond that.

EMP - Petersons Early Morning Pipe. Nice easy English, easy to smoke.

Welcome and enjoy trying about 1300 blends before you get a sense of what you like

Welcome from Pennsylvania! I’m a fan of Boswell blends and have tried a couple from country squire. Boswell’s has a pretty comprehensive list of the blends he made on the sight. I would recommend Northwoods and English biscuit from the non-aro list. If you’re open to some aromatics piper’s pleasure has been my go to most days. Nice chocolate tin note, comes through in the flavor too. It doesn’t completely overpower the tobacco like many of the other aromatics I have tried. Welcome to the community!
