Picked this one up today. I've had three Ascortis and they have all been fine smokers but haven't made the long term cut. Lets see how she does.

I've been trying to sell mine for years. Nobody wants to buy it. It smoked pretty OK-ish but was ugly enough that it's sat through every sale and not moved at all.

No worries, and yes, it's only been smoked twice...that's how ugly I think it is. It may be the fact that it has some bad memories attached as well.

Here’s the capitan’s (not so ugly) ascorti. You heard it first here. Make the man an offer. The room note ghosting on this bad boy would make Bruce Willis cry like a puppy dog.

I had an Ascorti years ago, and sold it for reasons I can't remember. However, about a year ago I came across this little beauty. Advertised as a no name pipe, which it was, but somehow had an Ascorti stem on it. Super cheap, so I had to buy it to play with. Someone had started to do some sanding on it, and it was a mess with quite a few fills, so I knew it was not made by Ascorti, but the stem seems to be a legit Ascorti stem. I managed to get it looking pretty good, and it is actually a very good smoking pipe!
As for why Ascorti pipes don't get a lot of notice, I have no idea. It seems that Radice is the preferred brand that came out of the original Caminetto pipes.

I have a wonderful unsmoked Ascorti Xmas pipe from 1994. I debate every holiday if I should give it a light. I tell myself that I will wait anther 2 years when I retire. My wife tells me that I should leave it alone. It calls to me so, I know eventually I wlll smoke it. I think Ascorti makes some damn fine pipes.
I bought a caminetto in 1974 and for some reason can't buy an Ascorti or Radice.
I like the Ascorti better than radice IMO. I’ve got 3 of their New Dear pipes. I love that finish. Ascorti is the hotness, and some of the best smoking pipes I own.
Shoot, now I want to buy another Ascorti! Or at least a real one. ?
A lot of Radice pipes have stupid proportions like a fat shank by the bowl that tapers to a fat clumsy bit. They also like to make the bowl comical in proportion to the rest of the pipe.

Generally a bit boring or pain in appearance, the ones I have had smoke great. Still have one and always will, it smokes fantastic. Nice pipes brobs.
I am really excited about the one on the way. Actually, @Jwebb90 feel free to post a pic of it here. I’ve always wanted an Italian pipe. I love the stems used on Castellos but not really their stummel shapes.
