A new friend suggested pipe smoking was relaxing way back in 1977. Being a skeptic of anything with nicotine, the only way to check things out was to try a bowl of tobacco. That ended up with a trip to the Tinder Box and a couple of Danish Sovereigns. That friendship continued for many years and our pipe collections grew mostly from David's Briar Shop in Des Moines, Iowa. At the time, Greg and Jeff David were located at the Merle Hay Mall; they provided great advice and education for new pipe smokers and had a great selection of pipes and tobaccos. After a few years the pipes gathered a bit a dust and were rarely enjoyed and that needed to change. Unfortunately McClelland Tobacco Company closed along the way. This site has been great resource, lots of extraordinary new pipe-makers and interesting tobaccos. Time to get started again.
