I cleaned the peterson with the hot water and it’s smoking great after a good few days. The estate pipe I’ll try out the cotton ball method just to be sure.it definitely was just the first few smokes that had that salty taste maybe cuz I didn’t block the shank but i gave it a good scrub with cleaners and alc after i did that. Thank God my stem did crack or anything though.

So i did a salt treatment on 2 pipes and used salt in the shank and ofc the bowl. So will they never smoke sweet? i read more and seen ur supposed to block the shank first?
Always block the shank and salt just their bowl. If you dry out the shank wood, if may crack. Bowls apparently, are thick enough that cracking is not a risk.
