Not much been going on in my pipe smoking life over the last few months. No new pipes. No new blends. No eureka moments. Just steady, reliable, enjoyable bowls. I’m in a nice, boring, satisfying groove. And you know what? That’s perfect.

You know, it is really nice. For the first time in a while I’m not worrying about what blends I might be missing, or whether I should this or that pipe. I’ve not even been paying much attention to my rotation of pipes. Full disclosure though: that’s pretty on point with “Summer Me.” I’m sure as the cold rolls back in & I’m stuck in the housing freezing my goods off, my mind will occupy itself with everything again. I think that’s maybe how I cope with being cold. Lol.
Most exciting thing to happen to me lately in the the wonderful world of pipes, is that I discovered PS Proper English. It's amazing how I overlooked it so long. Great stuff! 
During my 55 yrs of smoking a pipe there were times where I just got bored and stepped away for 2 or 3 months. When I came back to the pipe it was more enjoyable then before and my stash of tobacco had aged some. What can I say, "S__T Happens".
After a certain age, major change is usually not good news. The daily routine brings with it a kind of delight. You know the enjoyable parts and can savor them throughly.
Boringly hitting a nice zone is a great place to be.
During this period of chaos now and over the past 3 years around the world I find that times of routine is increasingly rare and very enjoyable when it does occur. Savour it!
I have not changed my routine in forty years - anyone who follows my posts in 'What Are You Smoking' will know I awake at 4.30 every morning, consume coffee, smoke my pipe and then bitch about the world. I will smoke the same plugs and twists with the occasional 'Eureka' moment when I find something new and interesting. Recently I found Bob's Chocolate Flake. It is an amazing tobacco and a complete contrast to the usual sh*t I smoke. The room note does not hit you like you have been Dutch Oven-ed by a Thai hooker who has consumed too many yellow curries! Life has small surprises in that way.
The simple luxuries of life are not wild, exciting times, but a comfortable chair, a good cup of coffee and a pipe. It is only improved by a loyal puppy at your feet and a spoiled kitty nearby. Life is good.
This is, without any doubt, the most colorful description of a room note I’ve ever heard. I’m honestly super impressed.
