This is a Savinelli Punto Oro shape 627. I have never seen the F stamp on one of their stems before. Does anyone have any information as to what it means? Pics are attached 20230807_180532.jpg20230807_180525.jpg20230807_180506.jpg

An example marked 'F. Savinelli Genova Silver 0115', courtesy Giancarlo Spadaro, who speculates perhaps the 'F.' is the initial for Fratelli (Italian for Brothers). Perhaps an early example from Achille's brother's shop in Genova (Genoa in English)? Or perhaps this is a circa 1950s example, which coincided with a latter opening of a Savinelli shop in Genova?

Only thing I've seen that even mentions an F in the stamping.

Thanks. I saw that on Pipedia. It didn't specify the stem was stamped or the briar. I haven't found any other info so this may be it.

Wally Frank was pretty notorious for stamping F on anything they imported and sold. Could be that, Savinelli was at one time imported by Frank/Hollco Rhor.

That's interesting. I don't think I'll ever know for sure. The good news is, this pipe is a great smoker.
