So I saw this auction with a few hours to go and decided to hit it at the starting price (which was barely matching the price of the calabash) and hope for the best. I got it. It’s a mix of Butz Choquin and Dr Plumb. The calabash which was my target is in great condition, none of the stems are loose, and none of the pipes is clean. They all have bits of tobacco in them but no smell of smoke, so they sat unused for years I bet. The author/rhodesian types are good, some of the others have fillings. The weird angular BC is nearly unsmoked. Pity is the Ancienne has that odd bone insert broken. i wonder if i can get rid of it in fact, anyone knows?

Sounds like you got a great deal. Maybe you can remove the broken white stem part from the mouthpiece and glue it back on whats left of the longer white stem. It'll be shorter, but not by much.

Nice Karam! That calabash looks good.
Cheers, it does, heavily oxidised stem but I can deal with that at home. The price of the whole lot was what one would pay for a gourd calabash so It was very much value for money, and almost all pipes have no structural/fit issues.

Bit annoyed by the broken bone…connector of the hunting pipe. Not sure what to do with it as it’s glued. It has another crack running all the way down so it’s unsavable in my opinion. The previous owner had evidently put tape over the crack so there’s now bit of adhesive left over. For my tastes it would look fine just without it, I’ll probably take it to Sven in Basel who will for sure come up with a solution.

Very nice!

Can't go wrong with the calabash.

I like the idea of repairing the insert. Even if it is a bit shorter it kind of makes the look of the pipe.

Yes, thought about that, but then saw it has a crack running all the way down :(
