I don't know if these are common ads but I thought I would post them for our Minister of Tobacciana in case he hasn't seen them. They are hanging in my local B&M.

Wow!
Both of those are great.

:P
Thanks for posting!
I don't think they're exactly common in the US,

and rarely pop up for sale, I remember on the tv show American Pickers seeing a Gold Flake cig sign, so such stuff is around, but those older metal signs have a cross-collector appeal and often go for the big bucks because sadly these days tobacco is often seen as "a nostalgic thing of the past" and serious sign collectors like to represent the entire spectrum of a certain cultural era, so they'll buy the old baccy signs even if they're nonsmokers...
Both of those are cherry too!
Often they're pretty tatty from being outdoors.
Since Legation is the more obscure,

here's an old advertisement showing what it looked like...

It's interesting how some of the UK stuff gets over here,

I wonder if the signs were actually used by tobacconists at one time?
Something like this Thomas Bear & Sons sign is one of the least expected brands I'd thought I'd see as they seemed to be pretty obscure...
Original Porcelain 1930s Double Sided Elephant Cigarette Sign
...and it didn't really sell for that much,

but still over my budgetary restraints,

I can't be much of a player in the sign collecting arena.

Pictorial stuff like the elephant helps it sell too.
TB&S was of a fair size though I think as far as the smaller companies go,

a lot of their stuff shows up in India.
A few of their tins show up in this thread:

Many of the American tobacco signs go for much more coin...

At those prices I'm not a player either! I like the one in your post above, very elegant. I'll get some photos of the other signs he has at the B&M next time I get down there.
