    Ben Wade Prominence Pipe

Thank you for your input on this. So, then this pipe was made by Prebem Holm. Do you know approx what year? I'm actually selling it, but I always try to accurately describe any pipe I sell and I also try to price it accordingly.

    Ben Wade Prominence Pipe

Thats not my pipe, FYI, just one I saw online.

    Ben Wade Prominence Pipe

Thtas a good theory. but from what I've seen, most of the stamps put his name below.

    Ben Wade Prominence Pipe

So, I have a pretty decent vintage, smooth Danish pipe, which is only stamped Prominence A 4. So this is likely a Ben Wade pipe, but his name isn't on it. Does that mean he didn't make it? Likely by someone employed by him? I just want to know if I have all the facts straight.

    Does anyone recognize this insignia?

I thought the same thing - and it's entirely possible that they used this logo a long while ago, but I couldn't find it in their history.

    Does anyone recognize this insignia?

Thank you, I will do just that.

    Does anyone recognize this insignia?

I did, to no avail. I found 2 more pipes with the insignia (in my estate collection I just acquired). I'd love to know where its from.

    Does anyone recognize this insignia?

I've been searching around the obvious places online but I don't know it. It looks like an S and a fancy F, merged with the classic 2 friendly pipes. No other insignia. I have 2 pipes I recently acquired with this marking. Thought I'd ask here.

    Here's an Odd One...

That just seems wrong. Let's just throw in some lead paint for kicks.

    Here's an Odd One...

Yeah, its def not Bakelite. It feels pourous, slightly soft... which is why I think it's odd for an inner pipe bowl. Any thoughts on the stamped insignias??

    Here's an Odd One...

No, there is a seam on both sides. No seams in Bakelite.

    Here's an Odd One...

I've seen the meerschaum twin bowl, but haven't run across plastic.

    Here's an Odd One...

I picked this one up at a garage sale. It's got a twin bowl, which screws on, and seems to be made of some kind of carbonized "plastic". That just seems so wrong. The stamp appears to read, "Kohinoor" and those 3 stamped insignias on the band appear to be branches of the military - an anchor, a...

    Are Stingers Good or Bad?

Thanks, I had already soaked/cleaned a few of them, but was afraid to force them apart after my first attempt hadn't worked. So, I soaked again and yes, I managed to get them all apart. That torpedo shape was a simple screw-on/off.

    Are Stingers Good or Bad?

I've also read that some will buy these older pipes and get rid of the stinger. These stingers look permanent. At first, I thought they were removable and took some pliers to one. Nope.
