What Cigar Are You Smoking? 2024

Taking a break from working on Weird Tales. Having a Famous Smoke Shop Nicaraguan Factory Selects, 5 5/8" x 60 on the porch. It’s about 7:30 pm and a comfortable 78⁰ outside. Wasabi couldn’t wait to go outside after being cooped up all day.

    Captain Black Grape 🍇

I ordered two tubs on April 19th when the site listed 12 available. On the 29th, I got an e-mail that I got a refund, after the second batch sold out. I e-mailed to ask why my order didn’t get processed and never heard back.

***What Are You Smoking, May 2024?***

Having Newminster 400 in another of my very early Eugène-Léon Ropp pipes, a Cherrywood with a Natural Horn Stem. It’s stamped “Bussang,” so, it’s very likely it was made at Ropp’s original workshop there between 1870–1893. This one will be dedicated to Virginia blends. This pipe has a...

    Anyone have Dunhill innertubes?

A couple of my early Savinelli Punto Oro pipes are missing their inner tubes (or only have a partial remnant). I thought about ordering the Dunhill tubes for them, but ended up ordering aluminum and brass tubing from Amazon; hopefully the two different diameters will fit. I measured with a...

Thanks, I dig it—but, it’s a far cry from an “H” grade pipe.

Having an Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur No. III Toro, 6.1" x 50 on the porch.

I’m sticking with the Irish theme since I’m still working on the Bram Stoker® Awards issue of Weird Tales Magazine. Having Peterson University Flake in a Briar Pipes Limited. (B.P.L.) Shamrock and Harp Carved Bent Billiard with a B.P.L. stamped vulcanite stem, from Dublin, Ireland—this pipe...

***What Are You Smoking, May 2024?***

Going to have Peterson University Flake in a Rusticated Peterson Giant Bent Billiard Magnum (with a fork-tail “P” stamp) with a P-Lip stem, circa 1974–1983 (Giants with no model numbers from the ’60s are known to exist). It only seems fitting to smoke an Irish pipe while I work on the Bram...

What Cigar Are You Smoking? 2024

Having an Oliva Series O Perfecto, 5.0" x 55 on the porch. It’s overcast today, and thunder just sounded above. But, it’s nice out.

    Dunhill Hedgehog

The patent number suggests this may have been created by Dunhill. I have seen this type of reamer from GBD and ones with tobacconists’s names stamped (but, lacking the “HEDGEHOG” designation). Perhaps, these were knockoffs or were licensed.

    Two Quick Questions.

This would be true of any of the microcrystalline waxes. Get a little daub on your fingertips and apply—rub it in vigourously with your fingertips so that the application is very thin. ( @sablebrush52 is able to get results that he likes with just his fingers working the wax up in temperature...

What Cigar Are You Smoking? 2024

Yes, Wasabi (he’s a long-haired Chihuahua) loves the porch—it may be our favourite part of the house as well. He often patrols the perimeter and sticks his head between the wider gaps to see what’s going on. We nicknamed him “Mr. Kravitz” after the nosey neighbour on Bewitched.
