I have been trying many different types of tobaccos and blends in my first few months of pipe smoking. I recently received some DFK. Smoked by itself it is definitely a stout tobacco. I have read where it can be also used as a condiment for blends. What types of tobaccos does DFK compliment?

DFK can really add some life to a Virginia. I'm not a huge perique fan, but I find that I like DFK and perique together, and VaPers that incorporate DFK are much more interesting to me than a straight VaPer. It's good in latakia blends, it's good with plain burley, and it's good on its own. It's pretty much good in everything.

Convienient thread. Im thinking of trying some ODF or other dark fired blend. I looked and maybe I missed it but does HU tobacco have a tobacco where dark fired is a primary note. Preferably without Lat. I like Lat but I have enough of them for the moment.

My current favorite DFK blend is Gawith & Hoggarth Dark Bird's Eye.

It's a little smoky and a little sweet and ages pretty well. I buy it in bulk and portion it out for aging.

Definitely an "end-of-the-night" type of blend for me. It can be pretty stout.
